Holy St. Patrick
(Freeman Sheppard)
Edward Connors was a shoemaker in Woody Point around 1900. He wasn't known to be much of a drinker but he always had a bottle of liquor for St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate the occasion. Liquor wasn't always easy to get in those days so it showed his passion for St. Patrick!
His house was built on the side of a hill, and he had a little shed below his house. One St. Patrick’s Day after drinking a bottle of liquor, he was seen leaving his shed to go up to his house. He’d walk a few steps and fall down the hill, get up and do the same thing again! This happened over and over until finally he sat on the ground and said, “Holy St. Patrick, how I suffer for thee”!!
